liveFEED: KBD, Linton + Layton

FEED welcomes a select studio audience to liveFEED: KBD plus David Linton + Zach Layton

KBD returns to FEED with a new instrument: the piano box. KBD is a trio of musicians who improvise longform sound pieces using electroacoustic instrumentation. This approach is experimental by nature and design, allowing listeners to engage with deep and active listening. KBD principal members are Michael Kimaid, Gabriel Beam, and Ryan Dohm.

For two decades, KBD has explored liminal spaces between sound, music, and noise, constantly evolving in the process. The trio’s current configuration explores the theme of resonance as a way of creating sonic room for each other to contribute to a larger whole.  

Wood, wind, and metals combine to lay a sonic foundation; circuitry and amplification take those signals and affect them to create a soundscape that constantly expands and contracts. Each piece is different, reflecting their time and place as well as patterns and cycles beyond the here and now.
